Final session of the 2026 ETEKIN Economic Forums, titled "Digital Euro and European Wallet: Challenges and Opportunities".
The development of new digital tools is transforming the way we make payments, prove our identity, and interact with public administrations and businesses. In this context, new solutions have emerged, including the NIK Digital Wallet in the Basque Country, the Digital Euro, and the European Digital Identity Wallet. But how will these new digital wallets change the way we pay, identify ourselves, and access digital services? What challenges will they pose for citizens, businesses, and public administrations? To address these questions, the event will feature Xabier Arrieta and Oskar Guadilla from the Basque Government's IT Society (EJIE), together with Alaitz Zabala from the University of Deusto.
