Eroski Open Innovation Challenge

Eroski, the challenge-promoting company, in collaboration with BAT B Accelerator Tower, launches an Autonomous Hyperconvenience Challenge, aimed at identifying startups, scaleups and technology companies capable of designing and deploying 24/7 modular convenience points that integrate food solutions, urban services and last mile logistics in an autonomous, scalable and low maintenance way.

With a strong presence in the Basque Country and a well established track record in responsible retail, proximity and customer-centric models, Eroski is exploring new formats under its strategic vision “The store comes to me”. The objective is to extend the shopping experience and everyday services beyond the traditional store, reaching consumers where they live, work or move around.

Focus
The challenge seeks technological solutions that enable the creation of compact, autonomous modules and deployable in urban environments. These modules may combine ready-to-eat food solutions, chilled and frozen products, advanced vending systems, online order collection, smart lockers and other urban microservices that increase usage and recurrence.

Eroski’s ambition is to move towards a simple, modular and scalable format, where different layers of the model (hardware, product, logistics, services) can be integrated through specialised solutions from the innovation ecosystem. The goal is to co-develop functional pilots in real environments, validate the model and, if successful, evolve towards a progressive rollout within the urban ecosystem.

The challenge is open to mature or pre-commercial solutions, with strong integration capabilities, a clear orientation towards autonomous 24/7 operation, and a genuine willingness to collaborate with a leading food retail player in the design of new urban hyperconvenience formats.
